ANS pointed out that some of the monks leading the revolution or the protests now they seem to have gone underground. Aikman was asked : What’s happening there ?
« Well I think that the plain fact is that the army has just been utterly ruthless with all the monasteries. They sort of closed them all down literally. They rounded up hundreds, maybe thousands of monks, took them off to detention camps. There’ve been reports that many of them were killed, executed in cold blood. So the monks have had the heart of their protests torn out of them because they’ve been just removed from the scene physically. »
